Congratulations to the girls track team, as they earned the 1A state title! They worked hard, and several of the girls also earned 1st place medals! Almost all of the girls placed in their respective events. Their hard work truly paid off!

Here is a write up about their win by writer Ronald Bond of The Observer:

A dramatic comeback on the final stretch of the 1A girls 4-by-400 relay gave the Joseph girls track team its first state championship.

Annie Duncan made up a large deficit in the final leg of the relay and pulled ahead with about 30 meters to go to give the Eagles the win in the race with a time of 4 minutes, 22.19 seconds in the final 1A girls race of the OSAA Track and Field State Championships Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene.

The win, coupled with Griswold's third-place finish in the event, gave Joseph 70 team points and the team title, one ahead of Griswold, which scored 69 points.

The Eagles entered the final relay trailing the Grizzlies, 63-60, and needed to beat Griswold by four points or more to win the crown.

Through three laps, the title was in Griswold's hands as the Grizzlies held a lead of roughly 10 seconds over the Eagles, who were in third.

Duncan made up the gap, closing to within about a second at the final turn, then pulled ahead late as Griswold anchor Arianna Krol faded down the stretch.

The win capped off a remarkable comeback by the Eagles in the point differential, as Griswold entered Friday with 38 points to Joseph's 18.

The Eagles' strength, though was in the mid-length and distance races, and that prowess helped Joseph close in. Freshman Haley Miller won both the 800 and 1,500 races to give the Eagles a boost. Isabelle Tingelstad came in third in the 1,500 and Duncan came in third in the 300 hurdles to score cruicial points for Joseph.
