Honoring Our Troops

This Monday, November 12th is a special day in America. It is a day that we recognize the sacrifice and dedication of the young men and women who defend our nation's freedom. Nearly every year, we have at least one student who decides to enlist in a branch of the military.  Joseph has been the alma mater of hundreds of troops in past years.  Last year, Lucas Staigle, enlisted in the Marines. He recently returned home after completing his basic training, and spoke to the junior and senior classes about his experiences. A picture of him in full uniform is listed below this article.

This year, we actually have a student who enlisted her junior year. Lexi Tippett, now a senior here in Joseph, has already completed boot camp, and trains once a month with the U.S. Army National Guard. She was recently featured in an article in the Chieftain. That article can be accessed by clicking here, and we hope you take the time to read about her experience as a high school soldier.

At Joseph Charter School, we aim to prepare our students for life after high school. Whether they choose to go to college, enlist in the military, work, or travel, we hope their experiences here help to prepare them for the adult world. But, on Veteran's Day, we want to recognize those students that do choose to enlist. No matter what branch of the military they choose, or what school they graduate from, we would like to take a moment and thank all of our nation's troops. It is because of your sacrifice that we are able to enjoy the many freedoms we have today.
