Update 2/9/20

posted Feb 9, 2020, 2:14 PM by Angela Gorham

Hello Everyone – Below are some updates:

  • We are excited to welcome back our K-4 students to our campus in Joseph.  The staff at Joseph Charter school has worked hard over the weekend to set classrooms back up, put some finishing touches on some cleaning, and get schedules worked out for the rest of the year.

  • We have completed air quality tests over the weekend and the air is clean.  We will continue to test as a precautionary measure.

  • The fire alarm system that we thought we could fix could not be fixed and a company has been working on installing an updated system.  What does this mean? This means that we will utilize a fire watch each day while your kids are in school. These watches will be frequent and logged (We have been working hand and hand with the fire marshall with this).

  • You will notice two airscrubbers in the downstairs and those will remain for quite some time to keep fresh air moving and to clean any air that might need it.

Busses and Drop Off –

  • Before School - The busses will run at times that were set before the fire.  Kids will get dropped off by the gym/cafeteria up on top (like normal).  We will have adults walk K-4 kids down to the K-4 area of the building where we will have multiple staff members watch them until school starts.  If you are dropping off your elementary child (K-4), please do so in the elementary circle located right outside Mrs. Koehn’s and Mrs. Shetler’s room.  5-12th grade students will continue the morning routine that has been going on the last two weeks.  Please try not to bring your kids before 7:30.  At 7:30 am we will have adults present in the elementary.

  • After School – Parent pickup for elementary students will again be in the elementary circle outside Mrs. Koehn’s and Mrs. Shetler’s room.  We will have adults there to assist. Bus riders will be walked up to the bus area by the cafeteria and gym and will be driven home.

Cleaning Plan –

  • The crew is cleaning Mrs. Strickland’s and Mrs. Mansfield’s room in the upper hallway.

  • The painting crew is coming in right behind the cleaning crew to paint.

  • Once this area is cleaned and ok’d for use to utilize again, we will open that area up.  This will allow us to have one continuous walkway from the K-4 part of the building to the office.

  • The cleaning crew will then move to the cafeteria and kitchen area.

  • After the cafeteria and kitchen area, they will move to the rooms in the middle area of the jr. high/high school halls (Mr. Hites, Mrs. Hayes, Ms. Weaver, Mr. Bombaci, Mrs. Connoly, and the library).

Other Notes –

  • We want to continue to thank the volunteers that have pitched in to help with our school.  We could not do it without you. This community is amazing.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
