Hello JCS Parents,
My name is Maya Junkins, and I am currently a senior at JCS. Each year, seniors are required to complete a senior project, something that benefits the community, aligns with a personal passion, or supports future career goals.
Last year, I was a foreign exchange student in France, where I became very involved with the AFS organization. AFS (American Field Service) is the program that allowed me to pursue my dream of studying abroad. I am incredibly grateful for the experiences AFS provided, and I knew I wanted to incorporate that into my senior project.
For my project, I will be hosting an AFS Information Night on February 20th at 5:30 PM at M. Crow, and pizza will be provided. This event is a great opportunity for anyone in the community who is curious about cultural exchange to learn more about what AFS offers. Whether you’re considering hosting an exchange student, exploring sending your child abroad, or simply wanting to understand how these programs work, this session will give you a chance to ask questions, hear personal experiences, and gather helpful resources. I firmly believe that cultural exchange can broaden perspectives and foster lasting connections, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with others.
I hope to see many of you there!
Sincerely,
Maya Junkins
